Wendell Nii Laryea AdjeteyDr. Wendell Nii Laryea Adjetey is Assistant Professor of U.S. and African Diaspora history at McGill University. An award-winning historian, social entrepreneur, and humanitarian, Dr. Adjetey has served marginalized communities for over fifteen years and remains committed to advancing pluralism, economic progress, and social change in North America and sub-Saharan Africa. In addition to the Yale International Alliance, he is Director on other Boards: the Tujenge Africa Foundation, a U.S. 501(c)(3) that promotes inter-ethnic dialogue, ethical leadership, and university preparation and access in Burundi; Inspirit Foundation, a non-profit that leverages impact investing to advance pluralism and civic engagement; and Dream Maker Ventures Diversity Fund, Canada’s first Black-led VC Fund that invests in minority-led ventures in North America, the Caribbean, and sub-Saharan Africa. He is Advisor to the Committee on Canadian Studies at Yale, as well as the Road Home, a think tank and advocacy group for youth on the margins. In 2018-19, Dr. Adjetey held the W. L. Mackenzie King Fellowship at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and Department of History Lectureship at Harvard University. He earned the Ph.D., M.Phil., and M.A. at Yale University.
