- The Transformational Power of Public Art

  Leo Villareal will describe his journey from making sculptures in Hammond Hall as a Yale undergraduate art major to presenting some of the largest public artworks in the world. Villareal forges software and light into unique forms that extend the work of artists like James Turrell and Robert Irwin. Over the last 20 years he has shown his work at galleries and museums around the world and launched two monumental public artworks, The Bay Lights in San Francisco and the Illuminated River in London, which will transform 15 bridges across the Thames into a light sculpture.

Registration is required as speed networking participants will be sent a brief questionnaire prior to the reunion. Questionnaire responses will be used to shape the session based on participants’ networking interests.

  Phil Zeidman wrote speeches for Hubert Humphrey and managed part of Jimmy Carter’s presidential campaign, and Pete Wilson served as Mayor of San Diego, U.S. Senator, and Governor of California. They will choose the three best and the three worst Presidents in 55’s continuum from Truman to Trump. In this presidential year their discussion should be particularly relevant, lively, and enlightened.
