Getting to New Haven

For the most comprehensive information about traveling to New Haven, please go to Yale’s Visitors Gateway, a site which includes campus maps. Free reunion parking will be available, with Reunion Shuttle service to and from central campus. More information will be provided with registration packets in late winter.

New Haven’s Union Station is served by both Metro North (800-638-7646) and Amtrak (800-USA-RAIL).

Tweed-New Haven airport, offering jet service from US Airways, is the closest to campus (10 minutes by taxi or reunion shuttle).  Bradley International Airport is just north of Hartford and the New York area airports include:

The Hartford and New York airports are accessible by the airport shuttles which bring travelers to a central campus location. Advance reservations are required.

For day and overnight visitors, YAA has arranged for free parking in Yale's Pierson-Sage Garage on Whitney Ave. north of the Peabody Museum (see campus map) and using the Reunion Shuttle to get around campus. Parking on the street is subject to meters, ticketing and towing, and Yale lots have either limited or no access. There are a number of public lots and garages around campus, but be sure to check their operating hours as not all are open 24 hours a day.

The YAA Reunion Shuttle service, which begins on Thursday afternoon at 1 pm, covers our five reunion hotels; at other hotels, you will be responsible for transportation to and from campus.  The shuttle also serves Pierson-Sage Garage.

Hotel Information - Reserve Yours Now!!

The YAA's block of rooms for reunions at the four downtown New Haven hotels – the Omni New Haven, the Study, the New Haven Hotel, and the Courtyard Marriott – are now open for reservations. Because of the shortage of hotel rooms in New Haven, these blocks will fill up quickly; but space does open up in the spring as people cancel their reservations. Nevertheless, we urge you to explore other housing options, including staying on campus and exploring other hotels in the New Haven area (https://visitorcenter.yale.edu/lodging). Please note that our reunion shuttles, in addition to serving the four downtown hotels, also service La Quinta Inn on Long Wharf, but do not travel to other outlying hotels.

Housing in the Colleges and on Old Campus

Although somewhat spartan and designed for students, campus housing offers camaraderie and convenience. Fees are per-person: $100/one night, $123/two nights, and $145/three nights. Children under 10 are housed free if in a sleeping bag or portable crib; Yale does not provide cribs.

Campus renovations have dramatically altered suites: most have multiple bedrooms and a common room, and bedrooms are a mix of singles and doubles. Guests will usually share a suite with other attendees; single attendees may share a bedroom, and couples may be assigned to two single bedrooms. Families are kept together in a suite. Bathrooms are communal and their doors cannot be locked. All-gender and single-gender bathrooms will be available for reunion attendees staying in university accommodations, although the bathroom type of your choice may not be on your floor.

Private accommodations cannot be provided except for medical reasons. There are a limited number of accessible rooms and rooms with non-electronic access (for religious observance). Beds are singles and permanent bunk beds are common; upper bunks are not assigned to the Classes of 1954-1979. Rooms have dressers, overhead lighting, desks and chairs and, sometimes, student furniture. Yale provides linens (sheets, blanket, pillow, pillowcase), towels, washcloths, and soap. There are no phones, desk lamps, air conditioners, or fans. All Yale buildings are strictly non-smoking.
