Searching for a New Deal on Climate? Look to the States.
Robert J. Klee, former Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, and now a lecturer at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies (FES) and Yale Law School will present a talk entitled “Searching for a New Deal on Climate? Look to the States.”
Klee’s talk will explore how states, cities, regions, institutions, and corporations have developed policy tools and innovative programs to combat global warming and deeply decarbonize our economy. Klee argues that these innovative techniques, developed from the laboratory of the states, must be scaled up and adopted quickly and widely if we hope to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
Klee’s talk is based on his work with students and colleagues at FES and the Yale Center for Business and the Environment (CBEY), a series he published in CBEY’s Clean Energy Finance Forum (found here), and an Op-Ed in the Hartford Courant (found here).
