      West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) will be rocking the block once again this Spring on Sunday, May 21 from 12-4pm. Join us for a meaningful day where you can make an impact and gather with the WSCAH community.  

      There will be activities for the entire family including packing thousands of meals for our neighbors in need, writing cards to customers and elected officials, life-sized games, poetry reading, live music and delicious food and drink provided by local partners.

      West Side Campaign Against Hunger is on a mission to alleviate hunger by ensuring that all New Yorkers have access with dignity to a choice of healthy food and supportive services.

      Help clean the beach and park, and mulch young trees, with Coastal Preservation Network. Part of CPN’s annual Family Earth Fair, this event is open to all ages and also includes:

      • Free book swap – bring a book, take a book starting at 1:00 p.m. (both kids’ and adults’ books accepted; please, only books in good condition)
      • Learn about microplastics and composting
      • Meet live animals with Alley Pond Environmental Center
      • See plankton under a microscope with CPN’s Dr. James Cervino
      • Learn to “fly” with the Aerial Haven aerial program
      • Look to the stars with Kuiper Kat Astronomy
      • Make art-from-nature at our creative table 
      • Tree ID challenge
      • Get some free NYC compost 
      • Cido the Clown show at 4:00 p.m.

      Parking is available on the street.  Q25 bus stop is nearby.

      COASTAL PRESERVATION NETWORK is dedicated to restoring and protecting the coastal environment in Northeast Queens, improving local waterfront parks through hands-on action and advocacy, increasing public access to local waters, providing environmental education, and empowering residents to be greener in their daily lives.

      Join us for an afternoon of college mentorship, as we host a panel and mix and mingle session with over 70 high school students who are about to begin their college application journey.

      At this event we will ask alumni to share their stories about their college experiences, tips for preparing for college, and career exploration. Our student body is diverse and not restricted to any one group or demographic.  Alumni will also have the option to sign up us as mentor/editors for our October application editing workshops. This event is not restricted to Yale alumni; alumni from other schools will be present, along with current college students. 

      Interested alumni should rsvp to Juan Carlos Salinas '03 MFA to confirm attendance, and to receive the exact room location
