      Join YCSD and the Surfrider Foundation for a beach and street cleanup at Ocean Beach Pier! You need to register with Surfrider directly - but let us know you're coming so we look for you on the day as well!

      Meet at Ocean Beach Veterans' Plaza, just south of the lifeguard station where Abbot St. meets Newport Ave. If another event is on the grass, we'll be on the beach nearby. Just look for the blue Surfrider tent!

      Weather Cancellation Policy
      If it is lightly raining, we will hold the cleanup. If there are heavy rains, we will cancel the cleanup. To check the status of a cleanup, please see the Surfrider San Diego County events calendar or visit us on social media.

This is an exciting statewide event to improve and enhance New York’s parks and historic sites. Jay Heritage Center in Rye is the proud steward of the Jay Estate in Rye, a 23-acre educational center with indoor and outdoor classrooms including award-winning gardens. We are looking for volunteers of all ages to help make this local park even more beautiful and accessible. Clean trails, remove invasive species like multiflora rose vines, Oriental bittersweet, garlic mustard, Japanese Stiltgrass and more. Help plant annuals and build veggie bed trellises. Community service letters will be provided at the conclusion of your service, if needed. *Please bring gardening gloves if possible. Water and snacks will be provided. We strongly recommend long pants, long-sleeved shirts, socks, and closed-toe shoes.* We will have an ice cream truck on hand for all volunteers! A special program and book signing with forager Tama Matsuoka Wong, author of "Into the Weeds" will follow from 12-2pm for all who would like to attend.       In NE Ohio, one in seven people is food insecure, meaning they may not know where their next meal will come from. The Greater Cleveland Food Bank seeks to bridge the meal gap, connecting individuals with the nutritious meals they need to succeed.
      Volunteer tasks may include:
      -Sorting and repackaging incoming food and non-food donations
      -Backpacks for Kids Kits assembly
      -Packing Senior Boxes (Commodity Supplemental Food Program Box)
      -Relabeling and correcting labels on products to enable distribution

      Add to Calendar 2024-05-04T09:30:00 2024-05-04T14:00:00 America/New_York Yale Day of Service: CO, Denver - Boys and Girls Club State Education Day Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver helps kids succeed in school, develop good character and citizenship, and live healthy lives at 25 neighborhood clubs through low or no-cost opportunities to participate in fun and educationally enriching activities after school, during the school day, and all summer long. This event will take place at the Owen location. Volunteers will help run State Education Day, where all 25 Clubs in Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver compete against one another for a handful of awards while completing fun activities designed to engage club members’ mastery of reading, geography, science, and math. Volunteers should arrive by 9:30am as the day begins at 10am and runs until 2pm. A light lunch will be provided to volunteers.       Add to Calendar 2024-05-04T10:00:00 2024-05-04T13:00:00 America/New_York Yale Day of Service: CO, Boulder - Sombrero Marsh Environmental Educational Center Volunteers will do landscaping and weeding under the supervision of Thorne Nature Experience and City of Boulder Open Space staff members. Families of all ages are welcome. You will be asked to sign a waiver when you arrive as part of orientation. We will have tools and work gloves, but bring your favorite garden tool if you wish. Wear a hat and bring sunscreen and your water bottle. There is plenty of parking. If you wish to stay later and have a sack lunch, please bring that with you. Up to 20 people can participate in this opportunity. Please register as soon as convenient, as spots fill up quickly each year.       Project Lemonade supports local foster youth with year-round shopping for free clothes and accessories, with internships, networking, grants, and scholarships.

      Yale volunteers will:

      1.  Prior to May 4, collect needed items for the store. Host a donation drive or purchase needed items via this wishlist.  You can do this even if you can’t attend the event May 4!

      2. On May 4th, we will bring our collected donations to the store, assist youth who come to shop, and complete needed inventory work at the store. 

      This is an indoor location in the Lloyd Center Mall and appropriate for families with children 8 and up. 

      Attendance will be capped at 15 people.

      FREE PARKING: Project Lemonade is located in the Lloyd Center Mall, 2nd Floor next to Visionworks. The closest parking is in the garage next to Barnes and Noble. Drive to Row 2DD and enter the adjacent mall door.
