1960 Memorial Service at the Giamatti Bench. The bench honoring Yale English professor and president A. Bartlett Giamatti (1938-1989; B.A. 1960, Ph.D. 1964) is a functional memorial, inscribed with a quote to literally express Giamatti’s lifelong dedication to academics. Designed by Classmate and architect David Sellers.

1960 Cocktail Hour and American Favorites Buffet dinner with stations featuring cabernet braised beef short ribs, gulf shrimp and stone ground grits, plant based etoufee, bolognese bar, Korean style chicken, and an assortment of sides and sweets.  

Cocktails starting at 6 pm and dinner served at 7 pm.

Stay with us for a nightcap and conversation. The bar this evening closes at 11 pm.

Start the day with Yale signature bagel breakfast featuring an assortment of "Bruegger's" bagels, fresh sliced tomato and cucumber, hummus, smoked salmon plater, sliced fruit platter, fair trade coffee, an assortment of teas, and fruit juices.

Start your Saturday morning (weather permitting) with some gentle stretching and breathing exercises, and get your body feeling "yoga good" for a busy day of reunion activities! This is a mixed-level class featuring modifications for all levels of ability, so whether you have been practicing for years or have never touched a yoga mat, everyone can have an enjoyable experience in this class. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. No previous yoga experience necessary; children and all ages welcome.

If you are arriving today, your first stop is Jonathan Edwards College, our home for the weekend. YAA staff and students at the Class Help Desk in the Common Room will be ready to check you in and provide reunion materials, including campus housing keys if you are staying on campus.

David Skelly, Frank R. Oastler Professor of Ecology, Yale School of the Environment; Director, Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History

When the Peabody Museum was created in 1866 it was part of a broad effort by Yale College to embrace the sciences - a new way to understand the world. From its inception, the museum was intended to be integrated with the experiences of Yale students. In 2024, we will re-open a completely renovated Peabody with a renewed dedication to undergraduate engagement and support of teaching and research across the University.

Barbara Rockenbach, Stephen F. Gates ’68 University Librarian

Barbara Rockenbach began her tenure as the Stephen F. Gates ’68 University Librarian in July 2020. In this talk, she will discuss some innovations and lessons learned during this challenging time. She will also explore how the library continues to build on historic strengths by activating its world-class collections in new ways and how some recent and anticipated capital projects continue to make the library’s spaces an inspiration to new generations at Yale.
