      David Blight is the Sterling Prof. of History and a leading national authority in the study of the Civil War, Slavery and Abolition. His book on the life of Frederick Douglass recently won the Pulitzer Prize and he will speak on Douglass' role in the era.

      Class of ’56 programming will begin with a special lecture by Dr. Peter Conolly-Smith, a Professor of History at CUNY-Queens College. He will be introduced by Classmate and friend Marv Berenblum. This talk is designed to bring back the Yale 1950s with the outsized personalities of debaters William Sloan Coffin and William F. Buckley, Jr.
