  Sterling Law Buildings | Room: Levinson Auditorium — 127 Wall Street

  The first part of this session will be a discussion of Yale today with Yale College Dean Marvin Chun and a current student from 2:00 to 2:45 pm. Then we will discuss the admissions landscape with classmates in the field as well as Penelope Laurans, a longtime Yale administrator, from 2:45 to 3:25 pm

  Admissions session participants include: Abigail Nields Hillman, Abigail Hillman & Associates: Academics and Applications, Danielle Holley-Walker, Dean of Howard University Law School, Aaron Shipp, CEO The Ivy Edge,  Wanda Thomas, Associate Dean of Admissions, LSU Medical School, and Penelope Laurans, Senior Advisor at the University and Senior Advisor to the Dean of Admissions and former head of Jonathan Edwards College.   Do you remember those those existential dining hall discussions where everyone had an opinion and there were no right or wrong answers? Well we're bringing that back for the panel discussion on June 11 as we discuss where are we heading as a country/people/society/world. The panelists who are going to lead the discussion (and based on my discussions with them really make us think) are Paul Butler, Lisa Cortes, and Dave Stebenne.

  We will wallow with Classmate Es Esselstyn as he relates the thrilling chase for the 1956 Olympic gold medal in Melbourne by the Yale crew. Es will give us the background details, the initial loss, the rare comeback, the final strokes. We will listen to the words of the Australian radio announcer in sheer disbelief of the ending. Es is one of three living members of that crew.
