This event is the 52nd in a series covering different professions and career issues. There have been 42 Yale Career Panels and nine Yale Career Fireside Chats.

Organized nine years ago by a group of Yale alumni volunteers, these panels strive to provide candid, unvarnished views of featured professions. Our panelists for this event are in venture capital and private equity. They will be able to share their perspectives about each profession and also provide the audience with a comparison.

The panel discussion will be broadcast via an interactive streaming video platform that will allow Yale students and alumni to ask questions of the panel and interact with each other. There will be a networking period after the one-hour panel has ended.

Previous Yale Career Fireside Chats and Yale Career Panels

The 42 previous Yale Career Panels have covered architecture, artificial intelligence, boutique consulting, consulting (three times), education, entrepreneurism (three times), film and drama, finance and investing, internet and data services, investment banking (four times), investing, government service, journalism and publishing, legal (five times), medical (five times), medical devices, music, non-profit organizations, politics - the election process, Post-Ph.D. non-academic careers, product management, R&D, real estate, sales, start-ups, and a comparison of investing/investment banking/consulting.

In 2016, we started a series called, “Yale Career Fireside Chats.”  This series spotlights issues and opportunities which may be encountered during your professional career.  So far, our 9 fireside chats have covered “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion,” “Managing Major Career Changes,” “Serving on Boards,” “The Art of Networking,” “Cybersecurity”, “ Managing Your Career in a Covid-19 Downturn,” Lessons from Kevin Ryan, a Veteran Entrepreneur,” “How has the Pandemic Impacted our Careers and Work-Life?,” and “How to Ace Your Interviews.”

The recorded Yale Career Panels and Fireside Chats can be viewed at YAA on Demand.

Dr. Ben Green ’73 (PC) and Scott Fisher ’72 (PC) met on the Old Campus as freshman roommates in the Fall of 1968. A lifelong friendship has been enhanced by a collaboration called the Aging Wisely Project, an effort to learn what differentiates seniors who are aging well from those who are not. Their research suggests that there is important work to be done during this capstone portion of life. Ben and Scott will share their initial findings and invite questions, comments and personal stories that validate and critique their research.
