David Light '08 is one of the founders of Valisure.  Since its founding in 2015 at Yale Science Park, Valisure's core mission has always been to independently check the chemical makeup of medications before they reach consumers and deliver that transparency and visible quality assurance to patients, doctors, and the broader healthcare ecosystem. 

Stemming from this work, Valisure has been responsible for nationwide recalls of medications prescribed tens of millions of times each year.

Join us for another installment of Must See Yalie — Career Pivots where two authors, one established and one emerging, compare notes surrounding their work and experiences in the publishing industry. 

The Leadership Forum (now in its ninth year) generates insights on individual leadership and team-building. Past discussion leaders have included: innovators; Rhodes and Marshall Scholars; an executive of the World Bank; a member of the military; Yale Medal winners; movers-and-shakers in financial services; not-for-profit and healthcare leaders; trial lawyers… and many more.

Led by six Yale alums with corporate and political and community and institutional and military and religious leadership experience, the Leadership Forum kicks off with afternoon and evening sessions on Thursday, March 11.

How is K-12 public education shaping the human experience and helping students understand humanity's challenges? Today's problems demand a solid education in fundamentals as well as new approaches.

“Yale Alumni Educators in The Public School Classroom: A Conversation” invites you to join the discussion with 5 Yale College graduates who live on the front lines of education — dedicated to enriching young lives with innovative and creative practices that extend beyond lesson plans. Representing different US locations and fields of study, these Yalies have shown that achievement is possible in all communities, and they can speak to their efforts to ensure equitable access for all. They will share their experiences teaching before and during the pandemic, including their aspirations for US education moving forward. 

The COVID pandemic has been characterized by grave inequities in health outcomes. The Yale Club of Oregon and SW Washington and Careers, Life and Yale are proud to present Dr. Esther Choo, a practicing emergency physician, renowned advocate and thought leader in healthcare equity. We will discuss the origins of these inequities and how to move forward in addressing them. This event is cosponsored by Yale Women, Yale Alumni Health Network, Yale Bio+Tech, 1st Gen Yale and Association of Asian American Yale Alumni.

“The Human Experience” has featured Yalies who are giving a contemporary spin to practices and traditions that stretch back in time. Artist Shawn Cheng ’02 creates worlds with mythic stories and imagery, including yokai , a class of supernatural monsters and spirits from Japanese folklore. Growing up in Taiwan and Long Island, his influences range from manga to Calvin and Hobbes. Rather than illustrating, Shawn makes up his own stories with his colorful pictures redolent of 19th-century woodblock prints, often placing the figures in modern setting.
